Reviews for Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar
Review highlights
Based on 6,193 reviewsBoathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar consistently receives praise for its fresh, flavorful seafood and standout rotisserie dishes. Guests appreciate the quality of ingredients, particularly the oysters, crab cakes, and unique salad offerings. The restaurant’s picturesque location by the Tennessee River adds to its appeal, making it a popular choice for both casual gatherings and romantic outings. While the food and service are frequently highlighted as strengths, some visitors note the limited parking options and slightly cramped seating, which can contribute to a lively, noisy atmosphere. Overall, Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar is valued for its vibrant menu, attentive staff, and inviting ambiance.
Awesome restaurant right at the Tennessee River. I got Oysters there super fresh probably the best ones I had in TN also the rotisserie chicken hit the spot Service was great Highly recommended
Went to visit Chattanooga this labor day. Decided to give this place a chance. It was so nice. So beautiful. We started with the New Orleans BBQ shrimp. Absolutely delicious. Very flavorful. Then I had the Texas dip sandwich and my partner had the grilled salmon. We ended up with the Sunday ice cream last. I highly recommend this place for either a romantic time out or to have a fun get together. I could remember our servers name. He had glasses, brown hair, tall, and wore a green and purple bracelet. He was absolutely amazing. Knew the menu and suggested so many good things to us.
Parking near the restaurant fills up quickly, so plan ahead. There is additional side parking, but it’s on a downward slope. If you have elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues, I highly recommend dropping them off at the entrance before parking. The restaurant was crowded when we visited, but we were seated right away. Tables are a little tight and it’s loud, though the noise fades into the background after a while. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, nothing extraordinary, but there was nothing to complain about either. A note about the fresh fish: since it’s caught the same day, popular dishes run out quickly. If you want “catch of the day,” it’s best to arrive early. When we arrived a couple of hours after opening, all trout dishes were gone. We started with two oyster appetizers, the six royal raw oysters were served with fresh grated horseradish and a house-made oyster sauce. The oysters were high-priced, but decent quality and size. For entrees, we tried the fish tacos (fried catfish), which were good, though I had expected grilled fish like halibut or catfish instead. They come with corn tortillas, which may not suit everyone’s preference, and the accompanying red or black beans and rice were a bit bland, so we added seasoning. Overall, the dish was flavorful. We also tried the mahi-mahi with green beans, which was cooked perfectly and very fresh. My son had a hamburger and fries, which were fine but nothing special, and we likely wouldn’t order that again. Overall, all of the seafood dishes we had were flavorful and fresh. Despite the tight seating, noise, and high oyster prices, we enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend The Boathouse for fresh seafood.
This was my first time actually loving a fish dish at an American restaurant! I usually don’t like cooked fish or dishes like this, but this one was amazing. Definitely the best restaurant I’ve tried in Chattanooga so far. The salad was unique. It was SO GOOOOOD. and the fried calamari was perfectly crispy. not greasy at all. I’m drooling looking at these photos
The Voodoo Chicken was incredible!! The crispy skin was perfect and the sauces were light and flavorful. I was delighted! The crab cakes were also delicious, I was suspicious that they were overpriced but it was almost entirely fresh crab meat and well worth it! Amazing food, great staff!
First time here after enjoying a walk on the nearby trail. It was a nice relief from the late July heat. Wait time for us (party of 8).was roughly around 15 minutes, which was phenomenal, considering it was a packed house. Our server was terrific and energetic. Very tentative and checked on our party to make sure everything was to our liking. The wait for our food wasn't horrible either. Maybe 15-20 minutes after we placed it with our server. Everything was extremely fresh and hot. Portions were very good and the prices reflected on the quality of the food. I would be glad to pay it again for the dishes we received and the service. Dessert was also exceptional. The portions for it were very generous. Overall, it was a phenomenal experience. I'm definitely going to make a stop at this place if im ever in town again.
What a great surprise! I admit, I was Leary at first because I thought everything would be fried or like unhealthy, fast food but boy was I wrong and ever so glad! My loaded oysters were absolutely delicious and prepared in a way that I’ve never had before. My husband’s brisket nachos was outstanding too! I couldn’t decide which I wanted more of!Then, my trout almondine….. absolutely delicious! It was so meaty, silky/buttery (but not drenched in it.. just perfect) , flaky, almond tasting….. just WOW! The green beans were perfectly made not raw but not overcooked. My key lime pie was so perfectly lime but sweet and rich… made me feel like I was in Florida on the Gulf. The location was beautiful and in a great location with lots of large parking lots and beautiful views on the river. Our waitress, Ashlin was so sweet and friendly. Ashlin’s service was on time with everything…. Not hovering over us but not leaving us for long periods of time either. Just prompt, personable, great service. We were referred to this hidden gem by a waiter at another outstanding restaurant and so glad he told us as The Boathouse was the perfect stop for lunch/oysters!
Another amazing meal at The Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar! The Chesapeake Bay raw oysters are incredibly fresh, the grilled oysters smoky and flavorful, the trout almondine perfectly cooked, and the Apple Pecan Bread Pudding is pure comfort. Consistently outstanding food and a warm, inviting atmosphere make it hands down a favorite whenever we visit Chattanooga!
